Engineering Evaluation: With the exception of the exterior cosmetic maple ply, this drum shell is exactly the same as the VX Shell. The basswood responds with plenty of attack and is exceptionally full-bodied. With off-the-shell I.T.S. mounts and single-point-of-contact lugs, this is an incredibly sophisticated and high performance drum set for the price.
The QR series is a decent entry level kit. If you get some decent heads on the thing and get it tuned by someone who actually knows what they are doing they sound decent. the only weak link is the sanre which sounds like a biscuit tin. I use moongels to dampen the ring on the drums and a trusty blanket to dampen the bass drum. All in all a good buy for a first kit.
