Drum Workshop 5002 AD3 Accelerator Twin Pedal

Along with aluminum hex shafts, pedal plates and linkages, dual side adjusting hoop clamp, 101 two-way beater and built in spurs, these pedals can be customized to fit the needs of any player.

DWs unique universal assembly (with memory lock) is made in the DW factory. DWs Delta Tri-Bearing System employs ball bearings in three critical areas: the hinge, spring rocker and both sides of the post casting. DWs patented Delta ball-bearing hinge is a state-of-the-art lightweight aluminum design that incorporates ball bearings at both sides. The adjustable spring rocker and post casting also utilize ball bearings for smoother movement at the hex shaft, completing the Tri-Bearing System.

The Accelerator drive system offers an eccentric motion that creates an indirect relationship between the sprocket and the footboard, increasing the velocity of the pedal by shortening the length of the stroke. It is recommended for situations that require increased speed and sensitivity.
Includes a molded, hard shell case.

having recetly purchased this pedal as a some what reluctant alternative to the iron cobra on which I had set my heart, I can say most definatley that I am very happy in deed with my purchase. The pedal looks great, the ionised red clamps on the axle look smart and the red footpedals make the pedal really stand out,and the logo on the pedals makes sure everyone knows what pedal you have. The carry case is practical and would be expected at all pedals of this range. The pedal itself is pretty heavy, tho this only serves though enhance the image of its quality. The pedal action itself is highly customisable, as you would expect, with beater length, closeness to the kick drum ( without affecting the pedal height- if you dont want ) tension springs, and heel plate risers all changeable to your own personal preferance. this is all well and good but setting up a pedal for a smooth fast action with both pedals casn be tricky, but DW have of course taken this into consideration. each of the spring tensions is meaured with a small gauge down the side of the supports, meaning that the pedals can be adjusted to an exact science, and can be copied neatly by the second pedal. this came as a most pleasant touch. the beaters themselves come with a soft beater head and a hard head for those who prefer a clickier sound. they come with small weights which can be moved up and down the pedal giving a different weighted feel (or removed complately as in my case), and a memory lock, to ensure the beaters are the same length within the pedal each time you play. I play my pedals hard side, hitting a slam pad on the kick, which gives a great clicky, definate sound, without losing too much of the overall 'whoomf' of the bass itself. The footpedals are solid and give great grip, whether playing near the low end or right up by the double chains. If you do play by the chains, DW have supplied two little toe caps that screw into the pedal , stopping you pushing the chains, and also adding a little weight to the pedal if so desired. It is this attention to detail and obvious consumer feedback that has made this pedal a pleasure to own. other little details which make the pedal worth while are things like velcro on the bottom of the pedals, spikes are great for hard surfaces, but velcro stop syou ruing you rug or carpets and keeps the pedal firmly in its place. Also the drum key, whcih snaps into a littel holder just to the side of the pedal, means even if you lose your key, you know you have a spare with you. The playing itself is as you would expect, fluid, responsive and with great attack. I have the accelerator pedal, which uses a flat edged cam to pop the beater that little bit faster as it reaches the kick drum, giving great punch without having to stomp around on your pedals, and maening speed is easily maintained when playing faster and more sustained double kick. A really clever touch for those who may at some point consider moving into 2 kick drum league ( wohoo) is that the left hand pedal has a beater mount and bracket for using as a seperate pedal. simply remove the axle - and swap the spring mount and voila, 2 seperate pedals. hats of DW, well played indeed. There are not many things I i can find wrong with this pedal, and anything that has malfunctioned has been my mistake and easily rectified.
